Onyx Insights is Onyx's observability and operations intelligence platform for service health, telemetry, incidents and operational context.
A service can look available while the team still cannot explain what changed, who is affected, or which signal to trust. Service health, telemetry, incidents, and operating context belong in one place so an investigation starts from evidence.
How it works
Onyx looks at what is already collected and the gap between that and the questions the team needs to answer. Platform selection is a recommendation, and an assessment does not require an immediate platform replacement.
Logs, metrics and distributed tracing are instrumented with OpenTelemetry so telemetry stays portable across platforms. The result is evidence a team can use, collected in one model.
Dashboards are the operating picture a team returns to. Alerting connects that picture to an incident path, so a signal has a place to go.
Onyx Insights is the platform when it is the right technical and commercial fit. Where a customer's existing platform is the better answer, Onyx operates that instead.

Managed cloud services

Day-to-day administration of the platform, including maintenance coordination and backup oversight. The work stays inside the written scope: what Onyx operates, and what the customer retains. Configuration improvements come back through operational reporting.
Day-to-day administration of the telemetry estate the engagement names, including support during incident investigation. Onyx Insights is that platform when it is the right technical and commercial fit. Where a customer's existing platform is the better answer, Onyx operates that instead.
Capacity and cost management, reviewed against how the environment is used. Architecture reviews and operational reporting show the record of that work. No savings figure is stated.
A managed engagement is an ongoing operating relationship. It is written down before the work becomes recurring: what Onyx operates, what the customer retains, and how work is reported back. Support coverage, response targets and service responsibilities are defined for each managed-service engagement.
What we deliver
Seven services cover the cloud lifecycle. Insights and managed services, above, are the two the page treats in full. Each card here is the short form of a service already described for this division.
Cloud advisory and assessment
Onyx evaluates the environment you already run - applications, infrastructure, dependencies, cost and risk - before recommending a platform or a migration strategy. The assessment is the deliverable: a documented picture of what exists, what it costs, what it depends on, and what should move first.
Cloud foundation and engineering
Before workloads move, the destination needs structure: account and subscription boundaries, identity, network connectivity, logging, and a recovery position. Onyx designs and implements that foundation on AWS and Azure so later migration waves land somewhere governed rather than somewhere improvised.
On-premises-to-cloud migration
Migration is the core of this division. Workloads are assessed individually and assigned an appropriate strategy - rehost, replatform, refactor, retain or retire - so effort goes where it changes the outcome and nothing moves without a reason.
Application modernization
Not every application should be rewritten. Onyx separates the work that reduces operating cost and risk from the work that simply changes technology, and modernizes selectively against that line.
Observability and reliability
Onyx approaches observability without a fixed platform answer. We assess the tooling already in place, identify the gaps between what is collected and what is needed to answer operational questions, and recommend an architecture that fits. When the current environment is the better base, we extend it.
Managed cloud services
Managed cloud services and managed observability are the division's recurring engagements. Onyx takes on the day-to-day administration of the platform and the telemetry estate - maintenance coordination, backup oversight, capacity and cost management, and support during incident investigation.
AI operations
AI is a capability inside the service portfolio, not the identity of the division. Onyx applies it where operational work is repetitive or where a human needs a faster route through evidence - correlating telemetry during an investigation, summarising change and cost signals, automating a documented runbook step.
How an engagement runs
Onyx works across the complete cloud journey, from the initial business case and application assessment to migration delivery, operational visibility and ongoing management. Engagements can start at any stage - an assessment, a single migration wave, or an operating handover.
Discovery, dependency mapping, and the business case for change. The assessment is the deliverable: a documented picture of what exists, what it costs, what it depends on, and what should move first.
Landing zones, identity, network, and security foundations. Onyx designs and implements that foundation on AWS and Azure, as infrastructure as code, so later waves land somewhere governed.
Workload moves run in waves, with validated cutovers. Each workload is assigned a strategy, rehost, replatform, refactor, retain or retire, and a pilot proves the pattern before later waves.
Replatforming, containers, APIs, and delivery automation. Onyx modernizes where the change reduces operating cost and risk, and can do that work once the workload is stable in its new environment.
Telemetry, dashboards, alerting, and service-level objectives. The work favours open standards, with OpenTelemetry instrumentation for logs, metrics and distributed tracing, plus an incident path.
Day-to-day administration, maintenance, and incident support. The engagement states what Onyx operates, what the customer retains, and how work is reported back.
Cost, performance, and architecture reviewed on a cadence. Capacity and usage are reviewed with the architecture, and the result is written into the operating record.
On-premises-to-cloud migration
Migration is the core of this division. Workloads are assessed individually and assigned an appropriate strategy - rehost, replatform, refactor, retain or retire - so effort goes where it changes the outcome and nothing moves without a reason.
Onyx does not promise zero downtime. Each cutover plan states the expected impact, the validation steps, and the rollback position before the wave begins.
Example scenarios
A generic example, not a client story.

Example scenario
Problem. On-premises estates without a costed migration path. The applications, dependencies, and run costs are real, and no one holds one current picture of what should move first.
Our approach. The work starts as an assessment: discovery, dependency mapping, and a migration business case. Workloads that move then run in waves, and each cutover states its expected impact, validation steps, and rollback position.
Outcome. A documented roadmap and a governed place for the workloads that move, with a written view of what stays where it is. The sequence, the cutover position, and the operating handover are stated before the first wave.

Example scenario
Problem. Limited visibility into how services actually behave. A status indicator can stay quiet while latency, errors, and the path of a request are still unexplained.
Our approach. An observability assessment compares what is collected with the questions the team needs to answer. Where it fits, OpenTelemetry brings logs, metrics and distributed tracing together, with dashboards and alerting the team can operate.
Outcome. Operational questions answered from telemetry, with alerting and a clear incident path. Platform choice follows the assessment, and an existing platform can remain the right answer.

Example scenario
Problem. Cloud environments that are difficult to govern or operate. Accounts, identity, and network paths have grown without a landing zone the team can change with confidence.
Our approach. Landing zones, identity, network, and security foundations come first, delivered as infrastructure as code on AWS or Azure. Managed cloud services can follow once that project work is in place, with the scope written down.
Outcome. Day-to-day administration with responsibilities stated for the engagement: what Onyx operates, what the customer retains, and how work is reported. Coverage and response targets are defined for that engagement.
Questions
These answers stay with what this site already says about the practice. Coverage, price, and response targets are set in the engagement.

Financial institutions and fintech companies. Telecommunications providers. Government and public institutions. Digital businesses. Enterprise technology teams. Organizations modernizing legacy infrastructure. These are the environments the division works in. The sector names describe the work. They are not a client list.
Assessment. A fixed-scope review. Cloud readiness, infrastructure, applications, observability, risks and cost, delivered as a documented roadmap with a recommended sequence of work. Project delivery. Defined outcomes, delivered in phases. Cloud foundations, migrations, modernization, observability implementation and automation, scoped against the assessment and delivered in waves. Managed services. An ongoing operating relationship. Administration, operational visibility, optimization and engineering support, with responsibilities and coverage agreed per engagement.

Automation runs within defined controls, and an operator can see what was proposed, what acted, and why.
